Change Me

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I’ve made 3 hair appointments in the last month…..and had to cancel each one of them.  Every single time it was “me” time….someone would have another appointment at the same time!  This lack of extra vehicle thing is really getting to be a pain!

I’m scheduled for a quickie haircut tomorrow (Friday).  No sitting around talking and catching up with Sheila the magic maker.  I’m in and out!  Cause you guessed it……I have other things pushing for my time.  On the agenda?  Gates and Ally have a drama performance tomorrow night.  The evening will be spent enjoying a dessert bar along with the play “Trouble at the Talent Show” by Eileen Moushay.

I’m looking forward to sprucing up my look and watching my girls in the play!  I need a bit of change!  We won’t even talk about my roots…..eeek!  Scary!

I love Lifeway!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I have a confession. I’m crazy about good literature! Yea, I have a thing for good stuff written down for my enjoyment and personal growth. Lifeway just amazes me with their ability to stay on top of things.  Just when you get relaxed something new and exciting hits the presses.  If you’re interested in studying God’s word……go to Lifeway. The resources are neverending!

This morning as I was reading Vicki Courtney’s blog…I found a nifty new prayer blog hosted by none other than Lifeway. It’s beautiful! I love the concept, the look, the great idea and the fact that it’s open to women everywhere. Anyone can tap into this warm fuzzy atmosphere and find something that touches the heart. More reasons for me to love you Lifeway!

Go check it out. I know you’ll be glad you did.

Prayer Gates

Dear Lifeway,

You have blessed me repeatedly over the years. From the day I fell in love with Journey (a beautiful women’s devo magazine…not the rock group) to today. Your deep love for Christ shows through in every little item you label with your name. Thank you for using so many gifted and talented people of God to make your resources THE BEST!! My family has great respect for everything you stand for. I love ya! Keep up the good work! I can’t wait to devour your new prayer blog! It is beautiful!

From a Lifeway Fan!

What I Did On My Fall Break Vacation

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Remember every year at the beginning of school…..the teacher would have you write about your summer vacation? Yea, me too! Today is Monday….also known as…..the day everyone in my family has to snap back to reality and get back to school. Shoot! I could use a day or so to get myself a little more psyched up. Can you sense my back to school apprehension? I figured you could.

It was a great and glorious little break from reality. Four days of sleeping in and hanging out. Just what the doctor ordered (if he was ordering that is). On Thursday, we girls stayed home in our pj’s much of the day. It was hubby’s birthday so I did some cooking and made some of his favorite foods. The evening was spent together eating and watching his choice of movie (yes, we live crazy in our family)…Transformer’s #2. It turned out to be my favorite so far.

On Friday, the plan was to visit IU. We took off in that direction with a box of winter needs for sweetboy and an overnight bag for Ally. She had been dying to spend the night with him ever since he started school. I mean, who wouldn’t want to sleep on a concrete floor of a dude’s dorm room? Duh! She loved the visit. She did tell me the next day that she doesn’t know why Gavin doesn’t come home more…..the food at home is MUCH better! 🙂

We flew back into town that night right at 8:00pm. Just in time for the baby and her peeps to peel out for some fun at Fear Fair. Again, there we sat……”empty nesters”! We made use of our time alone and scarfed down leftover birthday food and watched our favorite Thursday night shows on DVR. Our life is one of sheer envy, I know. Just dream….it could happen to you too. 🙂

We couldn’t just stop the fun on Sunday…..our Colts! Man, they are on fire! 6-0 !! What else can I say? They’re just awesome! After the game we headed out with our “friends” Mike & Amy….(yea I’m using that term loosely) to the Mennonite Church outside of town. They were hosting The Woodsmen in concert. It was a loud gospel celebration! One worthy of ringing ears and happy hearts. We had fun, really!

Now I wish I could just end it there….but that’s not quite all. We thought it would be fun to go to McDonald’s after the “concert” and talk. I really wanted an iced coffee but I knew better than to hype my brain up like that so I settled for a coke. Oh well…I’ve spent the last 11 hours dreaming of sleeping. Yea, my eyeballs were half open all night. I should crash and burn sometime after lunch today.

And that, my friends…is what I did on my fall break vacation. Don’t hate me!

Happy Fall…..for real!

Turn into this…….

A sea of work! Who knew something so very beautiful….could inflict such exhaustion on an old body? Every year….we dream of an easier way of clearing our yard from all the leaves. Yea, it’s still a dream. This weekend was only the beginning of falling leaves. We still have several weeks of this phenom left.

Don’t you want to come over and help? 🙂

My How Time Flies

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Today is hubby’s special day! It’s our (the girls and I) first day of fall break from school. He is working! We are in our pajama’s! Quite the contrast, huh?

Later…..we will celebrate! I’m going to cook some of his favorite foods and rent the movie he’s been dying to see (the latest Transformer action movie). Then we’ll watch our favorite night of tv shows.

Yea…we know how to party!

Honey,

I hope you are blessed today. Birthday’s are so weird, aren’t they? You know it’s special….but it’s kind of hard to go around saying…”hey it’s my birthday!” and not sound like a goofball.
So…..I’ll just pepper you with love and sweet wishes on your day and hopefully you’ll feel as special as you really are.

I love you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Ally you look so cute in your new glasses. Who knew you couldn’t see? Sorry you’ve missed so many beautiful visions……leaves, blades of grass, numbers & letters on driving tests! What a bright new future you have ahead. Good luck and take good care of your new eyes!

To me….you’re beautiful in every way!
Love, your mama!
