Queen of Lazy-ville

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

I’ve officially turned to some sort of human jello. Nobody should ring my doorbell in hopes of seeing an actual functioning adult. I’m teetering on the edge of total bum and loser. Neither of which sound very “responsible”. What is my deal? It’s just Christmas break! It’s not like I’ve been told to just give up. I’m suffering from a severe case of cabin fever too much free time laziness.

Help!!

I’ve not worn “real” clothes since…umm, Saturday? It’s not healthy, ya’ll! Last night, I vowed to all of Facebook that I was definitely going to get motivated today and DO SOMETHING!! It’s currently 12:30pm and I’m on my bed (again) still in my pj’s! Perthetic! πŸ™

I can’t complain about me too terribly. I did manage to take down the Christmas decorations yesterday. Now if we could just finish taking the tree apart and pack it away. Hmm, Honey? Your turn! πŸ˜‰

But things are looking up. Tonight, I have P L A N S !! Yep! I’m even going to shower and put on some makeup. Hubby and I are going to meet friends for dinner. Not just any old friends either, friends with a new baby that I’ve been dying to meet for over a month! Yay!!! I can’t wait to see you tonight MISS AMELIA!! Oh and you too, B & P!

Ok, now that you know what a huge event I have ahead of me….I better get going. It could take me all day to get ready. hehe!

PS
Why, why hasn’t someone told me about the show Tori and Dean? I cannot stop watching! Heeeeeelp!!?!
{see, I’m sick!}

It’s the little things

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Or in this case…the BIG ones! This Christmas wasn’t one of heavy spending or expensive gifts. Thanks to the bustling busting economy! We tried to keep things in perspective and limited any dream purchases. You know, like a new car? Yea, we’ll all keep dreaming! πŸ˜‰

On a trip to the outlet mall last Wednesday, the one where we didn’t find anything we were looking for. We headed back towards home and stopped by Sam’s (our go-to place for fun). As we perused the aisles looking for my favorite chocolate truffles, hubby happened upon these little beauties! He, being the ever observant one grabbed them and claimed….OURS!!! Since “lounging” is one of our many love languages, I think he gets the perfect Christmas gift award!

WHY?

Just look at us! We can’t move from one room to the other without dragging these monsters with us. THEY ARE AWESOME!!! I’m even using mine right now as I blog (in bed). Thank you hubby! This is proof that you don’t have to give something expensive and extravagant to make someone happy! We love our pillows and YOU!!

It’s packing day. Gavin has an exciting adventure ahead this week. He’s been invited to take the place of another college student/leader (who can’t attend) for Winter Blast in Wisconsin. Cool beans! He’s going to have a great time. This is a fantastic opportunity {Thanks Tyler for the invitation}!!

They will be leaving very early tomorrow morning to drive the six hours up to Wisconsin’s Green Lake Conference Center. Last summer, Ally went with Tyler’s grandmother for a quick visit while he was there doing summer camp leadership. She loved it. I know Gavin will too. He’s a great ministry kid and knows how to jump in and work (he’s had a bit of experience).

Party on, dude! We’ll be praying all of you have a safe and fun trip! Serving the Lord is always so cool! Enjoy!

Silent Night

Friday, December 24th, 2010

On our way home last night from a day of shopping and having fun…..we passed this sweet reminder of what it’s all about! J E S U S !!

This live nativity was on the corner of the main intersection of Henryville, Indiana. A tiny little town right off the I-65 exit about 40 miles from Louisville, Kentucky. We cut through this area on our way home from the big city! πŸ˜‰

Surprise….just for us!

They Can’t Explain It!!

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

Those words…..were just what my dear friend told me yesterday that she had prayed for me. God heard her and many other’s. Thank you to my family and friends for beating down heaven’s door on my behalf. I can’t explain the many emotions I’ve felt since last Saturday when I found a mysterious lump in my breast.

Can you say….STOP in your tracks? I literally did just that. {imagine screeching tires right now!}

From the moment I went into the hospital this morning….satan tried to throw darts my direction. But God would have none of it. I arrived to them not having MY paperwork but a lady named Jaunita who’s 30 years older than me. Thirty minutes later we were on our way with MY paperwork/referral from my doctor. Yes, Lord…Yes!

Once I was back in radiology, she told me that I would have the mammogram and then need to leave for lunch and come back for more testing. HUH? I wasn’t expecting to be there for anything other than the mammo. After we finished, she had me go back to my little waiting room. Just a few minutes later she came in and told me to come on back for an ultrasound. Did that, then they wanted to do more pictures via the mammogram.

After just a little wait….the sweet radiologist came back in and said, “We have no explaination for it, we can’t SEE ANYTHING!!”. Then she gave me a big hug and said, “This is GOOD NEWS!!”.

Overwhelming. Joyous. Amazeballs!

Me at the hospital.

God, you are the great physician. Thank you doesn’t seem adequate enough. I’m completely at a loss for words.
I trust YOU!
Amen

Last Day

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Today is the end of our first semester of school. Whew! Never thought we’d make it! During the night (as I tossed & turned) we had a snow/sleet/blah roll in. The result? Bad roads and a 2 hour delay! πŸ™

On a day like today….I’d really rather not try to go anywhere. But, who am I to make snow safety decisions? hehe. I’m going with the attitude–I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN! Don’t judge, it’s my own form of encouraging myself. Goodness knows, I need it!

I’m excited that my mother-in-law’s sweet present arrived last night. I look forward to “trying to keep up” with the big girls (THE SIESTAS) in this years memory challenge. Eek! I’m going to have to buckle down. If you’ve never heard of it….go here! I love Beth Moore and I really love my mother-in-law! THANK YOU!!!

Let today be the day you show someone how much you love Jesus! That’s my challenge to me as well.
