Practice makes perfect

Memories of my day.

I have a theory. When I arrived at school this morning at 7am there was NO AIR-CONDITIONING on! The entire day ended up being one big giant hotflash!!! That’s where my theory comes in. Maybe…just maybe it was a strategic move on the part of the school system. You know, make it so disgustingly hot that no one will ever want to come back to school! haha!

It worked! I ain’t going back! πŸ˜‰

So, hello summerbreak! I’m ready to wrap myself up in your awesomeness! I’ll be a new wife, mom & blogger now that school is out. Ahhh!

Oh, The End!

It’s been a long weekend. Literally. So much has happened and been accomplished. I’m exhausted. I have to go to bed. But, I wanted to throw up a post before I fell into la-la land. I’m likely to get busy again….and not post for a while.

[I have told you about graduation, right?] It’s this next Saturday.

I have to be at school by 7am in the morning to decorate for senior breakfast. I’m feeling a bit melancholy about it all. The busyness of life interrupts the reality of what’s going on (I think). Plus, I’m extra tired. Which isn’t good. I keep battling the sore throat thing…..it’s a sign. Slow down!

My girl will be lining up with all her peeps tomorrow, waiting anxiously to get into the cafeteria for their FINAL meal in high school. Wow! Pancakes served on a paper placemat with a trip down memory lane video to boot. It will be emotional for them and for the parents that will be there serving. But that’s how it goes. Good times end. Life moves on.

She’s going to love all the special moments of this event and hide them forever in her heart.

So will I.

Congratulations Ally & the class of 2011!

I WILL NOT FLIP!

I WILL NOT LOSE IT!

I WILL NOT SCREAM!

I WILL NOT GO HARRY-SCARRY!

I WILL NOT….

That’s what I keep saying to myself, over and over! Since Wednesday during the night sometime (ya know, when I was tornado watchin?) our power has been out. Now, that’s understandable for the weather we experienced…..but today is Friday and my entire neighborhood has electricity except for me and 6 other houses.

I’m starting to get mighty crazy!

This has happened to us SO MANY TIMES! We’ve reached the point of losing our entire refridgerator/freezer. My house is a total wreck. Laundry is piled to heaven. Everything is dirty. We’ve eaten out two nights this week. In-laws and son are returning TONIGHT at 11pm in Indy from their Washingto trip. The house is a wreck. It’s finals week. Graduation and all it’s follies are in a week.

I tell you all this…..not to make you feel sorry for me, but just to get it off my chest. I woke up this morning at 5:45am and drove up to my school so I could take a hot shower and style my hair. I was so tired and I let myself fall into feeling sorry for myself. That triggered the rest of my morning into a huge woe is me. Didn’t get me anywhere and certainly didn’t change a thing. My circumstances….were still the same.

On my drive back to school…..I passed 4 huge bucket trucks (one carrying our new pole) as they were heading to my house. I was so looney, that I started clapping my hands in the air. Like a jerk….not a happy person. πŸ™

{Like, seriously…..is it their fault the trees fall in my neighborhood?}

I’m needing a regroup! A “Snap out of it!”.

Oh and electricity would be nice too. πŸ˜‰

Tornado Watch

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

As awful as this is going to sound……

If these stupid tornadoes hit my community and cause school to be cancelled…..I WILL BE DOING KARATE KICKS in every direction!! Creating my own tornado damage! Grrr!

No more make-up days!

Seriously, I’m not a heartless/thoughtless person! I’m sick! Horribly sick over all the damage, loss & devastation of the terrible weather hitting our country! May God protect us, in all locations being pounded right now.

Here is a link to the damage that happened just hours ago in another county nearby. No one can escape the wrath of this weather. If you’re in it’s path….please take it seriously and head to safety.

*****U P D A T E*****

After a crazy stormy night, we woke up at 7:37am to the sound of a tree falling AND NO ELECTRICITY!!! Again!

I called into school to let them know….we’d be late and ugly (thanks to no power to wash & dry hair or do makeup). Then began the frantic run-around of figuring out what to wear that doesn’t involve ironing!

On our drive to school it was clear…..our community was damaged by the wind. Trees were down, lines down and the whole area was a mess. What a crazy time of year.

Still praying for all that are affected by this weather.

Music is my passion

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

And tonight, I’ve watched back to back music shows. I’ll admit….each one left me disappointed! First, American Idol is down to two (like, who doesn’t know this right?) and from the sound of it….both of them are exhausted. Each time one of them performed, the songs were flat and they sounded like they were sung out. The vocals were struggling.

Fast forward on to Glee. Boring! I can’t think of much else to say. The whole show was total blahs-ville. I did like Lea Michelle’s moment on the stage A LA WICKED. Nice. But, really. The last show of the season went out with a dud. Boo!

Last bit of torture? The Voice. I think I like this show better than all other music show’s on right now. I have a little crush thing for Adam (don’t worry honey….he’s a little too skinny & tatted for me). The talent is wildly incredible. Tonight, however….fishing for something impressive. No one rocked my socks.

By the time I watched The Voice, I was starting to blame the lack of ear joy on my nasty sinus/throat/chest congestion gunk that’s been robbing me of tasting anything. I mean it couldn’t be all the shows stunk, could it? So, as far as I know…they all rocked the house. πŸ˜‰

I’m heading to bed. As I go, I continue to pray for all the folks without homes and loved ones due to the crazy tornadoes. The spring storms have wreaked mean havoc on our USA and I’m broken-hearted. Our own Indiana state is battling the storms too. We spent the whole evening without electricity last night because of the bad storm. My area has been hit and damaged and the weather guy says more tonight and tomorrow.

Clinging tightly to my family and home! Jesus, we are all yours.

We’re still here

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

For those of you who’ve been wondering about the END OF THE WORLD event taking place today…..it didn’t happen! I’m here, you’re here and as far as I know we won’t be getting any “notifications” of a departure date. At least not in any of the scripture that I’ve studied.

How about you?

Today was a beautiful day. At my house in Indiana….we jumped on a list of to-do’s that would make your head swim. I’m happy to say that our yard is mowed, the back porch rail is painted, several new pots are full of flowers, hubby’s hot car is sparkling, the sheets are crispy cleaned, the bathroom is sparkling, stinky dog is smelling sweet and we even went out to catch a movie!

Thank you God for such a productive and glorious day. I’m ready when you are…..so come on and get me! I’ll be the one with her chores completed! πŸ™‚
